6 JUNE

Nationaldagen / Swedish National Day

The Swedish National day is a day of celebration - Swedes eat strawberry cake and enjoy the first summer sun!

The day is a so called ‘Flag day’ a public holiday on which you’ll see thousands of Swedish flags flown all across the county. There are many community events and gatherings organised in local areas and ceremonies welcoming new Swedish citizen across the county.

The 6th of June only became a public holiday in 2006 so the traditions are pretty much a free for all. But in true Swedish nature we lean back on our trusted favourites, cake and snaps.
